Christian Beginnings Preschool and Day Care

Christian Beginnings, deeply rooted in Deerfield's history since 1973, initially began as a nursery school affiliated with the church. Evolving over the years, the program adapted to the changing needs of parents seeking high-quality care and education for their children.
Our aim is to help children grow socially, emotionally, intellectually, physically, and spiritually in a play-based everyday environment. We incorporate structured activities with explorations of interest, guide group learning, indoor and outdoor play, singing, snacks, a monthly chapel experience and lots of engaging fun. Our dedicated teachers prioritize building confidence and independence and nurturing positive relationships by treating each child with love, respect, and understanding.
Our Parent School Board oversees the program, policy, and all-school events.

It requires a minimum of three days enrollment, but parents may choose which days their child will attend. The program operates year round with a “camp” focus in the summer months.

Yes, both programs are regulated by DCFS. Both programs are guided by the Creative Curriculum, one of the approved curriculums for accreditation. In both programs, snacks are covered by tuition. Payment for both programs is set up in monthly installments. All classrooms are led by well qualified staff and maintain lower child/teacher ratios than required by the state.

For members of the First Presbyterian Church and current or former CB families, registration begins the first week of December. For new registrations, it begins one week later. The start date for both is indicated in registration materials. All registrations must be mailed, emailed, or hand delivered ON OR AFTER the date and time registration begins. Any registration received before the start date will be returned. All registrations are accepted on a first-come / first-serve basis according to the date & time stamped on the envelope or email.

Tuition can be paid several different ways. Drop off a check (cash is also accepted) in the tuition box by the office, set up the school as a payee with your personal bank’s bill pay option, and have the bank send us a check, or pay online (note: credit and debit payments incur a 3% fee, ACH payments are processed at no charge). Payments are due by the 25th of the month in which the fee is incurred.

The total tuition is divided into equal monthly payments for budgeting purposes, for the school and for families. Part Day tuition is divided into nine equal payments, and Full Day annual tuition is divided into twelve. Payments for months the school has extended days off (December for example), are still the same as months where children attend every week. Note: The September payment for Part Day families is pre-paid in July (when forms are due). The next payment is not due till October.

No, however, classes do fill to capacity, at which point a student is placed on a wait list and the Registration Fee returned. If a spot becomes available, the family is contacted and given time to enroll or forfeit the spot to the next child on the wait list.

Families are informed via e-mail if they’re guaranteed a spot in a class. If a class does not yet meet the minimum enrollment requirements or a class is full to capacity according to the first-come / first-serve order registrations are received, families are contacted to advise them of the wait-listed status. In this case registration fees are returned, and if a spot becomes available a new registration fee will be requested.

We have a limited scholarship fund, designed to aide families with single unexpected emergencies which affect their finances. In the case of sustained tuition assistance, in the Full Day program, families are referred to the state Child Care Assistant Program (CCAP). In the Part-Day Program, if we have open seats after July 15th, we offer a 50% scholarship for those spots for families that can demonstrate financial need (tax returns or other verification of income is required).

This depends on the number of families seeking registration. Students on the wait list only get a guaranteed spot if a currently registered student withdraws or moves. There are often changes during the summer months, but there is no guarantee that a waitlisted student will get into a class.
