Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)

Lift up a child's voice. A child's life. -our motto
It is devastating for children to be taken away from their parents or raised without a stable home environment. The advocates who volunteer at CASA Lake County are standing up for the abused and/or neglected children who have been taken from their homes for their protection and safety and who are in the juvenile court system. Based on the belief that every child is entitled to a safe and permanent home, more than 300 thoroughly trained CASA volunteers work in collaboration with key agencies, legal counsel, and community partners to advocate on the behalf of children throughout their traumatic journey in the protective care system.
For more than 22 years, CASA Lake County has trained hundreds of volunteers to be the fighting force for children in our strained system. Last year, there were 1,476 cases, with a total number of 4,685 reported abuse/neglect cases in Lake County and 553 new cases ended up in the court system. With only 2 guardian ad items to represent them and DCFS social workers carrying a caseload of 60-90 children, the children's immediate and long-term needs often get lost in an overburdened system. FPCD is proud to fundraise and have member advocates at CASA ensuring that the grace and love of God is felt upon all children who are survivors of traumatic experiences.
