Did you know... Faith in Action provides many contactless services for seniors in our area during this period of home confinement...and FIA has made and distributed 500 washable, reusable masks to low income seniors!
Southeast Lake County Faith in Action(FIA) has been a mission partner of FPCD for a number of years. Our church has members that are volunteers with FIA and also clients of FIA. One of the main goals of FIA is to help elderly, chronically ill and disabled residents maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. During the past several months FIA has increased their services for their clients and are currently serving 300-350 care receivers. Their numbers have increased daily due to this period of home confinement. Six new contactless services have been added for the Faith in Action care receivers:
Contactless grocery shopping and delivery
Medical transportation-arranged and paid for by FIA
Contactless healthcare delivery of medical items and prescriptions
Transition from hospital to home
Telephone reassurance
Contactless book delivery
Most recently FIA has made and distributed 500 washable, reusable masks for care receivers as well as for residents of 4 low income buildings. Eighty five Easter baskets were delivered to older adults in April.
For more information and for regular updates of new services added, please check the Faith in Action website at www.fiahelp.org and click on the Coronavirus Response link.
The mission of Faith in Action is to help older adults maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. As a volunteer, there are many forms of non-medical assistance which seniors need help with to stay independent. The following is a list that the Southeast Lake County chapter assists with:
Transportation to medical and other appointments
Help with shopping, reading or bill-paying
Minor home repairs
Friendly visiting and telephone support
Respite care for family caregivers
Faith in Action is non-sectarian. There is no charge for services and they serve anyone in the community regardless of their religious affiliation.
